A/C light on when defroster is on

A/C light on when defroster is on
I have a 2008 S80 T6 AWD. I have the temp set to high on both sides and when i hit the front defroster button the A/C light switches to "on". If I then hit the A/C button and turn it off, it also turns off the front defroster. Is this normal?
