Car Shudders while accelerating

I bought my 02 s80 just over a month ago and all seemed fine until today.
My issue is that while I'm accelerating there seems to be a shuddering in the front end of the car, almost like driving over a washboard. It had me concerned because even the slightest attempt to accelerate resulted in a shudder. I did have the air conditioning on for an hour or so in stop and go traffic so I'm not sure if that had something to do with the problem. While cruising at 100k/hr I turned off the a/c and 15 minutes later I had no more shuddering and I could accelerate with out issues.
Anyone have an idea what this is caused by or suggestions...
Your help is realllllllly appreciated. http://www.volvo-forums.com/style_em...ult/crying.gif

Check enigne light on?
If so was it flashing while the shuddering was happening?

Thanks for the fast reply.
The engine light was not on at all and there is no message on the panel that indicated an engine problem. I drove the car again tonight with the a/c off and didn't have a problem. The acceleration was good and strong.... no shuddering.

You might have a coil pack going bad. That would cause a misfire.

Thanks Tech
Is there anyway to confirm that it is the coil and is it easy to fix????
Cheers

RE: Car Shudders while accelerating

It might finish going bad and finally throw the check engine light.
Try this but it won't give you code numbers but will only tell you if there is codes in the ECM.
Press and hold the read button on the end of the turn signal switch. While holding the button in press the rear foglight switch 2 times fast. In the window it should say something about checking systems for codes. Then press the read button to scroll to see what modules have codes in them. See if the ECM shows codes. If so then try to have them read and see if it is a misfire code.
