Hi Guys, new to the forum and to volvo, i recently buoght a2000 volvos80 so i can down size fron a $180.00 a week suv, i changed the plugs, air filters, gas filter, and the timing belt set after extensive research in this forum and talking to a volvo mechanic i was confident i could pull this off owing to i've changed timing belts on other cars before, here is the problem, the replacement went ok thats my thoughts,the car started ok ran for about 1/2 an hour, the next day i went to the store with the car ran fine, last night i went five blocks to visit a friend, the car wont start!! i check for gas going to the engine ok i open the oil filler cap to see if the cams are spinning they were i have no clue what is going on can sombody elp mi pleeease? i read about vvt i dont know much about it could this vvt timing let it start and run then craps out after a few days? thanks for any and every input into this sad matter i love driving this car. 2000 S80 non-turbo[sm=thanx.gif]

Try to get a scanner that will read the codes on it and pull the codes.

thanks tech, do you think it slipped timing? and if so there is a possibility of bend valve? thanks for your help

It usually won't jump timing unless the tensioner wasn't set correctly. But even if it is set wrong it doesn't always jump timing.
If it did it might have bent valves.
Pull the covers and check the marks if you are worried it jumped.
