Control Arm
I'm trying to change my control arm since I was in an accident that completely destroyed it. Is there any special tools I need to use because I can't seem to get the bolts that are on the inside off.

Yes, that is the one.
As you can see from the pictures the control arm is messed up. Attachment 23186 Attachment 23187 It's the ones that you have to remove the plastic from the bottom of the car to get to them... yes the ones on the subframe as you can see below. http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/DSC01212.jpg |
RE: Control Arm
anyone? wanna get to it before the snow

RE: Control Arm
i looked in the vadis, its kinda weird, those bolts ar eput in from the opposite side, the part is called the limiter roll
to be honest with you the pictures in vadis make no sense to me, but from what i can tell the car must be lifted and those bolts are take out from the opposite side (inside) not the side you are looking at it.. i think thats kinda obvious though ... why cant you take them out from the last pic looks like you can get an open ended wrench in there |
RE: Control Arm
I'm not strong enough lol. Is there anyway i can break it loose easily? I've been trying but it wont budge

RE: Control Arm
lol
at least you admit it 1) heating and cooling rapidly will expand/contract the metal and thus break it free . since it looks like you are working on grass (!) you may not have acess to a torch, you CAN buy a small portable torch at your local fastener, industrial supplier place. or a product callled Loctite Freeze & Release may help, it cools the part down to -15C within seconds so you can budge the bolt 2) breaker bar 3)put a wrench on the bolt and hit the wrench with a hammer, smaller more controlled hits accomplish things better 4)eat some super power macaroni lol hope it helpsk, let me know |
RE: Control Arm
I use an offest box end wrench to break them loose.
Since everything is apart if all else fails lay down and use your feet to push on the wrench to break it loose. |
RE: Control Arm
I'll try to get it off today using both of your methods. We were just hit with a big snow storm so idk if I'll get out today or tom.
