Diagnostic Trouble Code
 

Hello to all my dear Volvorians,
Recently my wife had this Diagnostic Trouble Code appeared in the scanner :-
1) ECM-912A communication with the engine module ECM -signal missing
2) ECM-280A front heated oxygen sensor H02S bank 1 - Faulty signal.

What does the above means but the car seems to be running very fine. Need your kind advice as M not there to help my wife out furthermore its extremely very far to the dealers workshop plus its a long holiday.

i would suspect a bad O2 sensor. If your car is over 100,000 miles, then I would replace both of the front O2 sensors. Hopefully this will correct the 912A error as well as I'm not sure what this error is trying to indicate what is at fault.

Thank you for your kind reply...that means my Volvo S80 2001 2.0T contains two oxygen sensors, which reside on the Volvo's exhaust system. The bank one sensor sits on the S80's manifold, and the bank two oxygen sensor is on the exhaust pipe after the catalytic converter. Are these the 2 oxygen sensors that you are talking about & is it expensive ?

my engine is a six cylinder and has four sensors. I don't know about your engine. I was refering to my front two sensors before the catalytic converter. You should replace the front ones first. These will be very expensive from the dealer but you can shop around for a Bosch brand for less. Make it easier for yourself and get the one that has the same connector connections. And take the left tire off to gain access to that connector.

I've just purchased the bosch sensor for the front only and will be doing it on this Thursday when m backed home now i have another problem :-
