did a HID projector retrofit in my 99 T6, and now no lowbeams :S

Hi guys I hope I'm in the right forums, I posted this in 3 other places since yesterday and no one answered...

I retrofitted my S80's headlights with modded Lexus RX330 HID projectors and 55w HID's with Philips bulbs, while I was installing them and aiming them, everything was working correctly, the headlights and the lowbeams would turn on automatically when I put the key in the #2 (or #3) position. Sometimes they wouldn't start but they would work right after trying a few more times.

Well I drove with them and I can say I was amazed, but when I brought it back at my friend's house for tweaking, the lowbeams just wouldn't fire up, the rest did (back lights and parking lights come on automatically in position #2). I'd like to know what the hell could have went wrong, is there a procedure to start the lowbeams alternatively?

And also is there a way I can have full control on my headlights (except maybe DRL's) but the light knob on the dashboard is completely useless I have 0 control over my car's lights.

Thanks guys. I'd really like to solve this ASAP so I can post some pics

it was a blown fuse.... I still wished I can control my headlight knob tho

You will have to have the daytime running lights turned off.
The Dealer can do it or a Volvo specialist that has Vadis can do it.

yeah unfortunately all the Volvo dealers/shops around here are douchebags and tell me they have to either change the whole computer wich costs severel thousands of G's. Or they just can't and won't tell me why.

Freakin douchebags.

What year Lexus headlights did you use, this is interesting.

diplomat128 05-12-2009 03:37 PM

My local Volvo dealer around here (Volvo Laval) wich are douchebags, said they can't do any changes whatsoever to the Daytime Running Lights. They didn't say it was because it's illegal or anything, just because they physically can't, wich I'm pretty sure is a big lie.

And also my ETM failed it's been almost a month now, when I asked them to do the recall 2-3 months ago they told me they already cleaned or changed the ETM last year (may 2008) and they can't do anything for me, wich is also a big lie, I'm going to have a talk with Volvo Canada. Anything I should know about that issue?

As for the retrofit, it's using RX330 AFS projectors with boosted 85122+ bulbs. 4300k but because of the 50w it's probably more like 3900k. I also got Audi style LED strips from Oznium, those are not for everyone and it's more like EyeCandy to get attention from anotherwise really stock looking retrofit.

Pretty nice. Can I get a straight on shot bumper level.

Looks good, get a pic up with the lights on. I also heard there was a relay that you need when you put HID's that's are not original.

diplomat128 05-15-2009 05:20 PM

Thanks guys, I might sell the car soon since I got a REALLY BAD EXEPERIENCE AT VOLVO LAVAL (worst dealership I ever went to) so I will sell the headlights seperately... 500$ with the HID kit and bulbs or 400$ only the headlights.

I didn't touch no relay I plug-n-played the ballasts into the cars OEM wires and into the D2S adaptors wich went to the Lexus RX330 projector.

BTW I took out the LED strip and blacked them out darker.

Why did you remove the LED strip that looked cool.
Selling the strips?
