Do tranny problems mainly occur in turbo cars?
I was just wondering. Do the tranny failures in the 1999-2001 S80 mainly occcur in the Turbo cars or are the non-turbo cars equally susceptible.
|
Well its the same crapass tranny so it can happen in both but I think its the extra torque that the turbo produces that helps to destroy it...
That said, regardless of which you have, take good care of it.. do your fluid exchanges fairly often etc |
and dont forget to replace that filter,,
just wondering the impalas that share this tranny, theyre used on many fleet cars and many cop cars, i know cop cars are supercharged, would that not kill their tranny's too ? |
I dont think the cop impalas are supercharged.. at least not to my knowledge...
But yes, change that pan filter and if you want extra protection install a Magnefine in-line filter like I did |
to be honest, when i did the service the magnet was super clean, thats partly due to the fact that the filter did its job, but still, over the years it should have accumulated more than just particles the size of dust that barely left a trace on my finger...
as far as i know all crown vics and impalas are charged, they have to be in order to catch up to bad guys i guess...regardless cops like to abuse their cars and floor it very often , how do their tranny's hold up ? maybe they are different from ours, upgraded ? i dont know |
I have a 99 S80 2.9 and my tranny failed at 114k miles.
