Electrical
the left control arm on my stearing column (blinkers, highbeams and read) is compleatly dead. Any ideas?

RE: Electrical
It's either the Control Module of the software, or both. "Tech" knows exactly what the broken part is refered to as. If you take it to the dealership, they will easily identify the issue.

RE: Electrical
Most likely the steering wheel module.

RE: Electrical
how much are we talking?
can i do it myself? |
RE: Electrical
Dealer has to do it. They have to download software to make it work.
I think like $300.0 or so but not 100% sure. |
RE: Electrical
update*
Catastrophic Failure while driving guages started failing one by one, warning lights started coming on one by one, then all the warning lights went out then dash illumination went out. geartronic failed so I couldnt shift out of 4th gear (automatic also appears to have failed) the car is currently underway on a 70 mile journy on a flatbed with all the windows down (they wouldnt go up). But yes powerbreaks and cabin illumination and door locks function well. |
RE: Electrical
That's a lot of failing. When the electrical goes bad, it can be to a large degree, but you already knew that!
Please update us on what ended up being the issues. |
RE: Electrical
Alternator, Battery and Time, $920 and now my service light comes on when I start the car but turns off a couple minutes into my drive.
Apparently Volvo has a funky take on "limp mode" Instead of telling me it just shuts systems down. |
RE: Electrical
Ouch!!! Do you know what's causing service light to turn on?
|
RE: Electrical
none
|
RE: Electrical
Have you had the code pulled to find out what might be tripping it up?
|
RE: Electrical
I need to buy a code reader, I live in a very rural place service is few and far between and volvo service is impossible
