engine system check is require for a 2000 S80 6 volvo

Hi, what are the causes for the "engine system check require" light to stay on?

Also will replacing the ABS controller correct an "Check Engine" light issue?
What are the fixes for theese 2 issues. thank you,

:)

Take it to a local mechanic or auto parts store, see if they will let you use their code reader.

Post any codes you get

My check engine lite came on as well. are other lights comming on?
1. ABS / traction control
2. message center "brake failure, stop safetly ASAP?

These are common with faulty ABS. I'd have the codes checked before going further. Autozone or similar may do this.

If it is your ABS, it's relatively easy to have fixed. Contact Victor Rocha (a well know volvo ABS repair person in California). He did mine for $125 or so. Just pull, send, pay, recieve, install.
vicrocha@earthlink.net He's got great instructions and used by hundreds of people.

After I did mine, the CEL lite was still on--ABS was perfect. I pulled the fuses 1) found in the drivers side fuse panel (open drivers door), AND 2) under the hood, just behined the air cleaner. I can't remember which ones, but I think the were engine / ABS related.

Hope this helps

ABS Controller replacement for a 2000' S80 volvo

Mustang, I now have an intermittent "engine sytem check require" message. Plus the "check engine" msg

I have taken the car back to the volvo specialist to replace the ABS controller. They ran diagnostic again - founded other $$problems like the replacement of all four oxygen sensors,a leaky VTV unit. The unit is related to the variable cam shaft timing to retard or advance the timing. Leaking onto the suspension control arm bushings.Cost close to $3k. I have paid for the diagnostics only. I will be getting rid of the volvo this year. thanks for the info.
