Engine System Fix Next Service

Hello everybody !

I have a 1998 Volvo S80 2.9 6c NON TURBO 76k with FSH and recent service done including Fuel filter,Oil filter and oil Castrol Magnatec 5W30, Air filter, Spark Plugs.
the car runs Fantastic ! but the last month after all this service done the computer shows this warning " ENGINE SYSTEM FIX NEXT SERVICE" the car still runs perfect and is an not a red warning.
it's has been scanned by a local garage with no luck on finding any fault stored on the computer... even with the warning in the dash board !
it's seems to came up with this warning after driving the for car more than 20 minutes, at a normal operational temperature. not when is warming up on short trips.
the car is due for a Cambelt change and also there is a warning when you start the car "Alarm System service required" which i understand is the Siren Control Module.

Q) Can the warning "Alarm System Service Required" be related in a way to the "Engine System Fix Next Service" ?

Q) Any experience with "Engine System Fix Next Service" warnings ?

Many Thanks

Regards

1. The alarm message is seprate from the engine system.
2. The local garages scanner might not have been able to read the codes. Some times the scanners cannot read all the codes.

Sorry but not until the codes are pulled then I can help more.
I have no direction to point you in because there is hundreds of reasons the light can come on.

Hello I had the car Scanned and the following fault :

ERROR MESSAGE 9400 related to BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH
RECORDED ON ECM

there where no more ERRORS stored on the ECM

they cleared the fault codes, and the warning message did not came on yet...

Thanks

That code refers to the brake pedal sensor mounted on the front of the brake booster.

matias80 06-06-2009 06:53 PM

that means the "brake pedal sensor" is faulty ?

Thanks

tech 06-06-2009 06:55 PM

Most of the time yes the sensor is bad.

matias80 06-06-2009 07:14 PM

I think so... the Warning "engine system fix next service" is on again !
i will replace the sensor.
Many Thanks

Hello
I removed, cleaned and refitted the sensor ( there are some websites with photos and info on how to do it) and no more "ENGINE SYSTEM FIX NEXT SERVICE" so far...
A new sensor will be ideal.

Thanks !
