ENGINE SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED MSG
 

I have engine system service required message but no check engine light. Is there a way to clear it, or is there something wrong? I have held in the button on the end of the directional switch but it does not clear it.

Try unplugging the battery for 15 min. That resets all the electronics including the engine light. This might work for you...

Reset "service required" message
 

I just cleared the service message on my Volvo C70 after changing the oil using this method. To reset the Volvo maintenance message without a fault code reader and aservice reset tool, do the following:

1. Put your key in the ignition and turn it to position one.
2. Next, turn your trip computer to trip one.
3. Press and hold the trip computer while turning your key to position two.
4. The center arrow will flash red three times.
5. On the third flash, you will let go and an alert will note that you justreset your service light.

If the instructions above do not work for you, then you should consider using a service reset tool and a car code reader.

Yes that works for a service light. That warning/light/message comes on every 5000/7500/ or 10,000 miles depending on what your cem is set to. That's an oil change light.

An engine system service required message means there is a self diagnostic code stored in usually the ECM. To reset it requires reading the code with a scan tool and erasing it, the same as when the check engine light is on.
