ETM recall facts
 

There seems to be a bit of confusion about what is covered under the extended warranty.

My S80 had an ECM problem last fall and was cleaned by the dealer and ran OK, for a while.

Well it's back, codes read failures relating to the ECM, again. The dealer told me only the software update is covered.
I think he is giving me a line of Bull. I have not received any letter from Volvo.

This is a defective design, as any 12 yr old can conclude. It should have been a safety recall. I suppose it will take someone getting killed or seriously injury.

Further more I never heard of having a throttle body cleaned, what nonsense. I had lot's of cars and never once needed to have done.

It all depends on what code the dealer pulls out of the car.

In some cases the ETM needs to be cleaned also crankcase ventilation should be checked and cleaned.

in other cases (depending on the code) the etm just gets the latest software.
