I just got a 99 s80 2.9 non turbo and im not sure after all the digging ive done which part is it. The car has problems between 40 n 60 at a steady pace. Seems like the cars loosing power. No ruff idle and problems just between 40 n 60. dose any one know thich part it is. If its the etm can i get it with out the tps. Also can i get the tps seprate or is it just the film thats in there. Volvo wants $873. Just for the etm n they said it comes with the tps. According to them u cant split them. The price dosent include the programing. God help me. I only owned this car for 12 days now.

 

do you have a Check engine light on? if so retrieve the codes first and see what cames up and go from there.

 

I've dealt with two problem child ETMs, one i replaced with the XmemedoX (mispelled?) model and the other was reprogrammed under warranty by the dealer. The initial failure mode was a sudden drop in power which was immediately followed by the power returning. This happened at higher speeds and it felt like the car was jerking down the highway. As the ETM problem got worse, the engine idle speed would randomly surge and drop. You might have read this last description on several of the forum posts -- that seems to be the final death throes before it goes belly up.
