Fifth cylinder misfired…
I have a problem with 1999 S80T6.
The code is “Fifth cylinder misfired”. Dealer said that a compression in fifth cylinder is low. They charge $1000.00 to remove the head and $1000.00 to put it back, plus ~3000.00 for repair. What should I do in this situation? Thanks a lot! |
RE: Fifth cylinder misfired…
Did they give you the compression numbers?
If so post them so I can look at them. Are you sure it is not a bad coil? |
RE: Fifth cylinder misfired…
The coil has been changed. The pressure in the 5th cylinder is 50. All others are around 170-175.
Thanks, |
RE: Fifth cylinder misfired…
Did they do a wet compression test after the first one?
That will tell you it if is the rings. Did they do a cylinder leak down test? That will tell you if it was the valves. |
RE: Fifth cylinder misfired…
They didn't do anything.

RE: Fifth cylinder misfired…
Have someone perform the wet down test and the leakdown test and take it from there. That will tell you what you need to do.
