Front Strut? Replacement?
 

I had a rattle in the front passenger side and took the cover off the strut tower. I found when I sat on the car that the strut bolt is disconnected from the top mount bushing(it just slides up as the car body goes down). The driver side is connected and is attached to the rubber bushing. Do I need a new monut or the whole strut. Also How do I replace this part? Thanks

You need a spring seat.
This is it. Ignore the fact that it says XC90 and the other years is lists. That one will fit and is alot heavier than the 850 one. It will also last alot longer.

You will need to remove the strut and compress the spring to swap the part out.

Yes they will.

They will fit the 850,S60's,V70's,S80's.

One more question. Being that the top mount is busted, do I need to compress the spring before removing any bolts to remove the strut?

If you remove the strut as one piece no.

You would undo the sway bar end link then the 2 screws from the strut to hub. Then the 3 13MM screws on the top and the strut will come out.

Then compress the spring and swap out the parts.

Hey Tech Pulled the struts and replaced the mounts. Piece of cake! I used the instructions from this site. I did not use a pair of pliers to hold the bolt as in the instructions. I cleaned out the dirt and used the torx bit to hold the torsion bar bolt.
