greatttt....

I was driving fast around a curve, and was lightly using the brakes and guess what happens?

"brake system failure" with the solid "brake" light on, funny thing it stayed on for a second then went away..... later in the day same thing.....Does this mean new brakes/rotors are needed or could some sensor or something else like brake fluid be the problem?

Thanks...

If your breaks are worn then the fluid level will drop some. How low is the fluid?
Is it close to MIN?

Check the pads (how many miles since you changed them?) Also check the rotors. As far as I know you can only machine down volvo rotors 2 times at 2mm each...but I'm not sure about that. If you feel a slight rocking as you slow down (slow down very gradually and feel for it) then the rotors are probably warped. The first signs will be braking into turns. After a few hundred miles of city driving the light will come on every time you break...give it another thousand, itll be on all the time. Trust me, I have the same problem as we speak.

15,000 miles ago there were new pads when i got them from the delearship.....the rotors will have to be replaced....if they need to be .

How far above Min was it.
If it was close then the fluid might be sliding to one side in the turn causing it to come on.

RE: greatttt....

that may be the problem tech, "-----" if you make that line vertical, thats about how much above the min mark it is, and it only has come on so far while taking turns kind of fast......

Do i need to add more brake fluid Dot 4?

The brakes still feel smooth, I have not felt any bumpiness in the brake pedal...

Just have the Pads checked if they are fine just top the fluid off a little.

pads have a good 40% of life in them...

Ok then top the fluid off a little.

The newer cars are almost designed that if the pads wear even all the way around it will let you know when they get low.

Now if i do decide to change brakes, what kind did you say you guys use? i was thinking of getting it done at sears, there rotors are 65$ each, pads i think like 30$ each, it came to 320$ with tax and labor for front rotors and brakes. This other guys said he change all the rotors and brakes for 400$, which is very interesting...

RE: greatttt....

Buy Brembo rotors or a good aftermarket rotor and Volvo pads and do it yourself.
