Help diagnose a problem
While making a left turn, i hit the gas pretty hard and the car buckled and started shaking.
Thought it was a missfire (bad coil) but the check engine light did not flash and i did not get any messsages. Previously i had a check engine light on for a small evap leak, but drivability was not affected and i drove around like that for about a year. I stopped and turned the car off, restarted, same thing, while idling the car keeps shaking and rpm wobbles, i can floor the gas pedal and the car stops shaking, but it speeds up very slowly and basically top out at around 50-60 Km/h. Transmission shifts smoothly. Again no new check engine light. Possible cause ? ignition coil, Throttle position sensor, other sensors ? car is in the shop right now |
One possibility is a vacuum or boost leak. I had a similar thing happen when the wastegate acutator pipe (from TCV) for the the second turbo popped off. The car peformed REALLY badly.

Got the car back, mechanic says its the ETM, he said he scanned the car and came up with like 5 bad codes, some o2 sensors, the evap leak i had before, a missfire, and something else.
I find it hard to believe i did not get a check engine light for any of those ( besides the check engine light for the small evap leak. He took out all the plugs, car has a bad valve gasket, and its spitting oil on the coils and spark plugs, they were fouled so he replaced them. The plugs were last changed year and a half ago, and yes it always burned oil and the plugs looked very nasty, tips were corroded and discolored. I drove it back home (barely) and now contemplate my next move, i think im just going to get rid of it, i was offerer $500 canadian at a used parts place. Cut my losses finally and move on, this car is garbage, not build well at all, i loved driving it, but i hated spending money fixing it, time to move on... |
