Help with high beams
 

Just got the car and trying to fix a few problems.

There is a problem with the brights, when I pull the lever, the high beams come on, but they do not stay on when I release it.

My question is, where should I be looking to fix the problem? Is there some sort of "latch" in the lever that should hold the high beams on? Would the lever need to be replaced, or is it controled from somewhere else?

Just wanted to know where I should start looking.

Same thing happend to me. Took me a few minutes to relize that you have to turn the light switch on to make the brights stay on. When it is in the daylights postion it wont stay on bright.

Thanks Bryan, that would be an easy fix....I'll give it a try when I get home and let you know.

If that is the problem it will have taken me much longer than a "few minutes" :)

That did fix the "problem," thank you. Now my question is this:
Besides the high beams, is there any other difference in the "daylight" position and the "on" position at night time? It seems like there is a sensor so that if the switch is in the "daylight" position and it is dark outside, then all of the lights seem to come on fully. Unless I need the high beams, is there any other reason that the switch needs to be turned to "on" at night?

You can leave the switch in the on position all the time.It will not hurt anything.
Some cars and years when you have the daytime running lights on you have headlights only and no taillights.

Yes, the switch to the left of the steering wheel can be set to permanent high beams. It can then be turned off. If high beams are needed temporarily, the little dial on the level can be turned and should click into place, although this varies with different models.
