I just bought a used 2002 S80 from a seller that didn't take such good care of it. The car has an SRS airbag warning on the dash, the windshield wipers don't work, the driver's side door has had the switches replaced (obviously from a salvage yard) yet they don't work either. The steering wheel has probably been removed as it is nowhere close to straight. There are probably quite a few more problems that I haven't noticed yet, but I got this car pretty cheap and I like it. Where do I start? I'm thinking I need some diagnosis, but don't know where to start. Can anyone help?

 

Steve list the issues you have. I hope the car is in a running condition with no engine/transmission issues.

It sounds like you are just complaining about the condition of the car. It would be best if you posted separate threads for each issue you have a problem with. A post asking for help with your wipers. A post asking for help with your windows. A post describing how the car drives in relation to the steering wheel position.

As for the SRS light, you will likely have to visit a VOLVO shop to figure out what's going on there and what you need to do to fix that.

 

Engine and Transmission seem ok. I'm having a difficult time diagnosing wipers. Have checked fuse. Washers work and trigger the headlight wipers but not the windshield wipers. I wish there was a book that walked people like me through diagnostics of various problems.

 

Maybe the wiper relay is bad.
