Got my new throttle body several weeks ago. Now have been throwing CEL several times with codes P1171 and p1181. P1171 i found in one place says elect throttle system open and P1181 o2 sensor bank 2 sensor 2. Could these be related to new TB as on several occasions when I put cruise on the rpm gage jumped way up and the car shot foward. Whats your opinion on this? 2001 S80 2.9 non turbo Thanks

 

If the 1171 crosses over to a throttle body code I would take it back.
But not sure if it does my book home says different.
The 1181 might actually be a bad O2 sensor.
Those codes are to generic for me to tell you more.
I will try to remember to write the codes down tonight and cross them to Volvo codes tomorrow and see what they are.

They don't cross over on what we have at work.
Any indy shop near you that uses Volvo software?

 

yes in Gainesville have an app monday to get timing belt changed can let him look at it at the same time thanks

I hate the generic scanners because they always have funky codes and also doesn't always read all the codes on most of the new cars.
