help....please...need some advice
 

Boy oh boy do I have some questions this time.

First, Is it dangerous to still drive 2000 S80 with front right side sway bark link broke?

I looked on the Vaids and can not find out about the alarm system codes.

It says: Alarm system triggered, service required.

As far as I know the only alarm system is the flashing red light on the dash. The horn beeped when you locked it with the remote. Never tried anything with alarm. I know it does not have a moving sensor in it. There is no button down by the gear shift to prove that there is one.

The other night, locked the doors with key fob and you could hear a faint alarm sound going off. Restarted the car and it went off. turnned the car off and it was happening again. I think I did this four times, sorry can't remember. Madeline (my 8 yr old daughter) says there is a spirit living in my car. lol Maybe she is right with all the weird stuff it has done since Aug. when I got it.

Where is the air filter?

Where is the inside air filter?

I would like to replace both before the winter is here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Air filter: left front corner under the hood
cabin filter: under map box (who keeps gloves there anyway?) near firewall passenger side.

Did you get your charging system sorted out? Voltage may affect the alarm system.
Something may have changed while dealing with the charging system.
Search archives for alarm/lock reset. I think it involves cycling the door lock with the key five times or such. I don't know this one, but it's a cheap effort to make.
Swaybar link will treat you badly on the highway/at higher speeds. Around town, not so much. Deal with it when you can.

I have the owners manual. It doesn't say much about the filter or alarm just how it works. trying to figure it on the vadis. Today i will take out the glove box.

Vadis seems to be just a work order generator and doesn't offer any real help. Seems a waste of memory on my computer. The Haynes manual offers real info in the form of photos and data.

The cabin filter is accessed under the dash. No need to pull the glove box. A couple of torx screws hold the narrow cover on.
I didn't have much crud on mine, so I just vacuumed it.
The swaybar links have tapered ends that need to be driven out of their sockets, can be a little testy swinging a hammer in such a small area.

There is more then one section of VADIS, it sounds like you're using mostly just the parts section and not the repair section. I find VADIS very helpful as it provides a lot of detail.

If you have VADIS, engine air filter insert is Part No.9186361, lower housing -- 8649671, upper housing -- 8649670; look at the diagram in the Parts Reader. The upper and lower housings are held together by three latches.
