ignition key problem
Occasionally....(probably one time out of thirty), when you put the key in the ignition to start the car, it will not turn. If you "jiggle" it several times, it will finally work correctly. As I said, this is a very sporadic problem...just enough to be a nuisance-ha! I have used graphite on the key cylinder, thinking perhaps a "tumbler" might be sticking a bit on occasion, but so far hasn't made a difference. Should I just keep using graphite on it, or is there something else I need to do....including maybe even changing out the ignition switch? OR....is it NOT a switch problem at all...something else???

Eventually you will need to replace the ignition lock assembly.

OK....afraid that was coming-ha! Thanks!! Is replacing the lock assembly a major job?

It is not all that bad. I remove the entire steering column. It can be removed in about 15-20 minutes. Then drill and easy out the old screws and install new parts.

changing ignition lock assembly
OK thanks...doesn't sound bad! One more question...will I need to purchase the lock assembly from a dealer (so the original keys can be used), or is there an aftermarket source for them? I just checked fcpgroton and didn't see any there....????

Sorry Dealer will have to order by the Vin#.

Ok.....darn-haha!! Thanks again for your help!!!
