Just got one!

Yesterday I picked up a very nice 2006 S80-AWD from my local dealer. The car was sold new by them and was always serviced by them so I had a good idea of the condition. The dealer, Lehman Volvo in York, Pa, did the 60K service, the car has 50K on it and I took it home.

I like the way the AWD system helps the car track on the twisty roads near my house! The wife has a 2004 S60 FWD and there is a big difference in the handling of this bigger and much heavier car.
The turbo 5 is a nice engine and more than capable on the roads between Pa and DC!

Pix and a name fo follow.

OK, so what do I need to look out for in the future?
Like I said the 60K service was just done so the timing belt, etc is all new.

Timing belt shouldn't be new at 60K, they typically get replaced around the 100K - 120K mark. The 60K includes new plugs and then a lot of checking for other failures/faults.

As for things to look for, the 2005/2006 models are the less prone to have issues overall then the earlier S80s.

I can tell you with my S80, I've had two unanticipated repairs that are most likely related to each other. The first was the main wiring harness from the battery to engine compartment (battery is in the trunk if you didn't know). This was while the car was under warranty and was about a $1,500 repair. The reason for replacement was too much resistance in the wire. The second repair about a year later was my starter, which could have prematurely failed due to the resistance issue from the harness. This was not under warranty, but my brother own's a repair shop so he replaced it for me.

Outside of that, just normal wear and tear items (brakes, air filters, oil changes, etc.).
