Keyless entry fob
Hello, I did a search, and did not find an answer to this, but if it turns out to be an oft-asked question, please allow me to apologize in advance. I recently aquired a 1999 s80 that has lost its keyless entry remote somewhere along the way (probably sold for crack money by some toothless skank[:@]). I located a pair of replacements on eBay, however after I received them in the mail, I contacted Volvo, and they said that they cannot reprogram the fobs without a PIN number. Is this legit or just dealer fascism. If it is just fascist-BS would I be able to get a third-party to reprogram (provided they have the appropriate software, of course), or is there anywhere that I can get a PIN number reissued?
Sorry to have to break it to you.
If they didn't come in a plastic case that they come in new or a bag with a sticker on it from new then you are out of luck.
They CANNOT be programmed without the codes and there is no way to get the codes.

I have owned some jeeps in the past where by pushing a key sequece on the remote it is programed... just clarifing that this isnt the case?

If it is a S80,S60 01V70 or 98S70 it has to be done by the dealer.
If it was an 850 then you could do it.
To program they should only charge 1Hr. labor and about $30.00 for the software. Some will only charge 1/2 hour to do it.
