lack of power

I have a 2.9L S80 my problem is it doesn't have much power when I accelerate it struggles, when I'm at a traffic light Toyota's and Nissan's pass me by no problem, but when I floor it it shoots off. Is this normal or is something wrong.

RE: lack of power

You don't have a turbo it is normal. I mean the 2.9L S80 is pushing around like 193 Hp same has my 1999 s70 awd and mine has power, the turbo just kicks in.

Also it could be because of the heat.

RE: lack of power

I had a Mercedes 300E and the same weight as the Volvo, The Mercedes had 180hp and it had lots of power comparing to the 2.9. I still don't know about it.

Have you had the Recall software installed?

No I haven't am not really sure on one end because I bought the car used with 50k on it so I don't know if it was done already.

RE: lack of power

If you bought it over 8 months ago then most likely has not been done.

Call Volvo and have it done. I bet that will help it.

RE: lack of power

It could be other factors as well. Dirty air filter, fouled spark plugs, very old oil, carbon build-up on piston and/or valves, etc. You might want to take it to a dealer and have them update the software like tech said and make sure it is up to date on a tune-up/maintainance.

RE: lack of power

Yeah your ETM might be bad like TECH said.

It shouldn't cost you a dime. It should be covered under Volvo's 10 year 200,000 mile warranty.

If it does cost you expect to pay around $1200 or so.

This is a Volvo only repair.
