leaky steering rack
 

Puddles appear on the garage floor. Steering makes noise. Are there seals to be replaced, or does the whole steering rack need to be replaced? Dealer quote $2,000 plus! Yikes. Anybody have this happen to their S80 with 58,000 miles? oh yes, its a 2000 model.

$800 later, fixed, feels good, but told my front end bushings are bad. Hmm sounds like a loose strut but they said bushings are simply worn out...only 60,000 miles, but 10 years old. I thought Volvos were built tough.

for $800 what work did they do ?

i had my steering rack completely rebuilt, i would not put a used unit in unless you are planning to sell the car right away, you just dont know what you are getting
