Hi All -

Newbie here, both to the forum and Volvo. :-)

Last summer I bought a 2015.5 S80 T6, with only 122 miles. Was a dealer car for a bit, but the dealership was changing hands and brand so I got it crazy cheap. There have been a few small issues, but the main one is long cranking times and sometimes stalling just after starting. Two Volvo dealers say there are no codes and of course, it didn't do it while at the dealer. Oddly seems to happen often when I park for work, in a subterranean garage three levels down. Planning to gift it to my mom later this year, but want to get it fixed before the warranty is up.

sounds like a fuel pressure issue - either a wonky pressure sensor, fuel pump control or perhaps an injector or part is bleeding off the rail pressure while it sits. Did your dealer measure the fuel pressure at the rail during their diagnostics?

Thanks for the reply! I've suspected a fuel delivery issue too, but no, I think the dealer just scanned for codes. It only has 4,700k and the overall demeanor from the dealer shop is that it's too new to have any problems. The vehicle has sat around a lot and my commute is only 14 miles a day, so maybe the fuel filter is clogged already?

Also, fuel economy is dismal, usually like 15MPG/City. But I assume being a big motor in LA traffic could account for that.

Given the car sat for a bit without driving, I'm wondering if some shellac built up in the fuel system. Have you tried any fuel injector cleaners or run on brand name premium to get some extra detergent action - ie Techron (some even suggest to use Seafoam in the gas). The dealer with the full VIDA DICE set up should be able to monitor fuel pressure during a driving cycle. Sounds like its worth paying for the usual $125 one hour diagnostic fee for some run time data.

I don't think your model even has a user serviceable fuel filter. The pump pick up has a screen to prevent debris getting into the fuel line but the pump would need to be removed to inspect.

Gotcha. Well, I ordered a bottle of Techron additive and will add at next fill-up, hopefully that will help clear out any issues. Otherwise I'll ask the dealer to look at the fuel sys next time. Thanks, again!!

2009 S80 T6, I have the same issue with long starts only when the car is cold. I have replaced the the fuel pressure sensor and still doing it. I have tried additives also. My gas mileage is not bad at 22mpg. I would be curious to find out what solution you come up with.
