modify a boost control valve solenoid
was talking to a tech just today and he said there was a way to modify a boost control valve solenoid to allow for more boost. he said to take a drill and take just a little off the orfice inside the solenoid. has anyone done this? how do you do so and what kind of results have you noticed?

RE: modify a boost control valve solenoid
Not many people have messed with the T-6's.
Not sure how much you would gain from it. |
RE: modify a boost control valve solenoid
or i could just buy a 75 dollar manual boost controller.. how would i install that tech? and how would i be able to set the right amount of boost allowed? do they usually come with instructions on adjustments?

RE: modify a boost control valve solenoid
On the newer cars the computer system really doesn't like the MBC's being put on them.
Before you mess with anything at all I would buy an aftermarket boost guage and install. This way you know how much boost you have now then after you start messing with things. I haven't messed with them much so im really not sure about the S80. The 850 you can install a MBC and turn it up to 12 PSI and go. But the newer cars don't like to be messed with like that. It might just be easier to try to save up for to send your computer out and get programmed. |
RE: modify a boost control valve solenoid
i had a chance about 2 weeks ago to buy a 94 or 95 850 turbo for about 1500. would this be an easy car to mod? i noticed you mentioned turning it up to 12psi with a controller. what are they normally and what type of bhp and torque gains are noted? and im pretty sure im just gonna send the ecu off on the t6....
