akabond, I don't think so throttle body cleaning requires, if yours car acceleration is OK and does not fluctuate the RPM then surly not. I am smelling some electrical issue.

You may want to give some written description of your problem. I thought that you posted a video of how to clean a throttle body.

What's going on? Do you have a CEL or other error message?

ya no problems in acceleration or driving. But i will need to change the PCV and i will go to the dealer for that and since they are going change the PCV might as well clean the TB..so will see if the problem still persist after that.
For now lets start with easy stuff :)

oops i did not mean to have a DIY. altho that would be kool.
As for the messages well i have none..no check engine light, no error message. nothing. the only thing i have on is new PCV breather hose. But the bad start up was there before i changed installed the new pcv hose.

akabond, though not a bad idea to change to PCV timely but just remembered the same thing i been facing and upon diagnosed my crankshaft seals found leaked and after replacing never faced such issue. Nothing wrong to check them as well. Good Luck! Do update what comes out :)

good point..but can you show me with picture where to find crankshaft seals so i can check the condition. i would love to have a inspect.

also i did ask the service tech (who works in garage) at volvo dealership. since i met him at a volvo meet. he quote me around $1,300 or $1,500. it includes :

-timing belt kit change
-PCV change and throttle body clean
-fuel filter change
above will cost $1,300

if i want to do cam seals too then total will be $1,500
i think from a dealer not a bad deal for the things that will be done.
what yall think

Hi, this link will gives you the complete details.
http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...p?f=11&t=56244

However I suggest simply check the seals condition, if it is ok then you can wait anther 5K Miles, since you are already crossed 100K, soon your car is up for timing belt change and there will be another overhead, so if the seals are already leaked then you have to do the whole job (Timing belt change, pulley, oil pump seal etc)
