new owner of '02 S80 T6 75th anniversary -- need help

Hi. My wife came home with this gorgeous car that is a rolling project.

I found the owner's manual online but can't even find a Haynes manual for repair. I saw some links to other years' books but don't know enough about the cars to tell if they give me the info I need.

This is not my first restoration of a rare car. I desperately need a DIY repair manual.

The auto parts store tells me it needs a new alternator. Also needs to have its sensors cleaned/tested and probably needs a fuel filter and/or fuel pump change. So far it appears everything works, but I already have a hard start issue when it's hot outside.

I read there was a fuel pump recall. Will Volvo customer service tell me if that's been done to this car?

One more question (for now) -- it looks like there should be a heat shield between the exhaust manifold and the large rubber air intake hose in the center of the engine compartment. Is this a design flaw?

Thanks,

David

I don't have a repair manual but I do have the VADIS disk that has really helped me out. It stands for Volvo After Market Dealer Instruction something and it is supposedly the disk Volvo sent to all their dealers way back when. I have the same car and if it has more than 100K miles on it, I would suggest reconsidering, unless you really love the car. This is my 2nd one, and I really like it, but it has deteriorated really quickly. The engine is still solid, but everything else (brakes, steering, exhaust, air conditioning, electrical, suspension) has required attention.
However, if you intend to continue, I will try to make a copy of this CD and send it to you. I have never tried, so I do not know if it is protected.
Hope this helps and good luck.
In any event

It was a lemon

I returned the car to the dealer because the Check Engine light came on and it would not pass smog.
