Default Novomat shocks

I have a 2005 S80 AWD and my rear shocks are shot. Mine are marked 44 but I'm wondering can I use the ones marked 37? They are coming out of same kind of car a year older. I would be taking the the hole setup of of that car, just want to know if that would work or not. To much for new novomate 44. Thanks for any help. Also my front suspension is marked 14 off of the tag any good ideas what to replace with also.

Don't see a non nivomat spring listed in the parts catalog - just a spring "marked 32". If your used parts have the original shocks and the original springs - they MIGHT work, and not be sagging.

So just to make sure my novomate shock absorbers are marked 44 and just want to make sure if I get novomate shock absorbers marked 37 will that work instead of the 44? If I get the 37 I will be taking the complete strut out of that car and just put in mine?

Is there really any difference between the two different shock absorbers? Part number 30714773 and 30714008?

The numbers are referring to your chassis plate number.
Volvo makes modifications during the model year and links parts to that number.
It is possible that they will fit and maybe even work. Assuming that they are in good shape (they are old) and Volvo didn't change the springs and any other components that affect the shocks operating, it might work. Problem is when dealing with suspension pieces, you just don't know.
My two cents, I'd look for matching shocks. Unless I was planning on running the car for a few more years. Easy for me to say, it's your money, I know. But if you do put them in and they go belly up next year and you still feel the car has more life left in it, you're going to have to redo it and buy them again.
