So this morning i had the bad strut mount replaced. The mechanic told me afterwards that i need struts. I kinda figured that in the first place because there was just too much movement. So on Monday he is going to check the prices of the struts for me (he didn't do it today because he was closing at noon). About how much should I be looking to pay for struts. If he wants to charge me an outrageous price for the parts, would i be able to get them cheaper somewhere else and just have him install them. I don't want to look totally clueless like before

 

I think in this case you'll pay more in labor then in parts. Aftermarket you'd probably spend around $200 - $250 for each rear and $180 - $250 on each front.

 

If you shop around you can find them for about $170.00-$180.00 each for the front. I too am going to be replacing alot of this stuff in the front end of our '99 before too long. What year is your S80?

 

Killa, I believe her's is a 2000...I checked her previous posts and found that she mentioned that she had a 2008 S80.

 

Do I need to use OEM struts or are others just as good.
