O-RING Seals at heater core

Good Morning everyone, I was reading up a little on the drivers side floor getting wet so I dug into the side panel where the core is and found that the seal is leaking on the bottom hose. Bought both seals at dealer for $4.oo @, not bad. I was just wondering if anyone has done this replacement and if there are any do's and don't's about the repair? I don't want to break anything in there. Thanks for any advice.

You may need those retaining clips as well.

Thanks rspi, that was great video info. I did not get the clips but the Volvo dealer is right up the road from me so I can get them quickly. I have a new problem I think? I just drained the radiator and i have never in my life seen the condition of the anti-freeze that came out of this car. It was thick and rusty looking as if there was no water in it at all. Im tyrying to figure out if I should dump hot water in it, run the motor, then drain it again. The only thing that worries me is its freezing here right now, although the car is in my garage (not heated though). Any thoughts on this or what I should do to try and clean this radiator and cooling system before I put the new o-rings in?

I usually pour distilled water in it while it's running to flush it out. If you have a lot of sediment in it you may want to get a flush. After I run 2 gallons through it I add a bottle of 100% coolant in it. Usually comes out to a 50/50 mix if the system holds 2 gallons.

Double check your coolant type with your year model car.

Im sure you have heard it thousands of times but, your the man! Such great info you share with the Volvo world. I am going to do this tomorrow morning and see if I can get all the sludge out of my coolant system. It may take me a bit more than what you did by looking at the stuff that came out of mine. I can't believe that someone would never take care of a car like this. Im telling you right now, I could walk into any scrap yard and find a cleaner coolant system than this. I just can't figure out how it could get this bad even if it was never flushed since new? Thanks again for all your knowledge. I will post back with updates.

I forgot to mention that I have looked at the motor oil and trans fluid and all look normal with no evidence of coolant anywhere.
