Odd warning notice
While on the highway today, I noticed an odd warning notice in the message center;
Bulb Failure Position Light I checked all of the exterior lamps when I stopped, and everything seemed okay. My question of course, is what's a position light and where is it? |
RE: Odd warning notice
The position lights are the Taillight bulbs. There should be 2 small lights lit on both sides. They are next to each other.

RE: Odd warning notice
Thanks very much. When I looked at it earlier they all seemed okay, but I'll take a closer look.
I just picked this car up on Monday and one thing I've noticed is that my lights seem to be on all the time when I'm running; There doesn't appear to be a difference with the headlight switch on or off - even the dash lights are on when the switch is off. Should this be a concern? |
RE: Odd warning notice
That is normal. It is the Daytime running lights when the switch is off. And Headlights when it is on.

RE: Odd warning notice
Thanks again. It struck me as odd that there seemed to be no difference, particularly the dash lights being on.

RE: Odd warning notice
In canada we all have daytime running light, my volvo the headlight switch does nothing, all lights are on all the time. Trust me this is a good thing. Not only can people see you better, you dont have to worry about turning lights on and off. My last car was the same. I dont think I have turn the light switch on a car for 5 years now.

RE: Odd warning notice
Sure enough; Outboard passenger side. I gave it a little wiggle & it light up just fine.
The daytime running light thing still strikes me as a little...different. I had a '99 Chevy Silverado that had automatic headlights. The daytime running lights were on all the time, but the dash lights, etc. would only come on via a dash-mounted sensor when there was sufficiently low ambient light. I've never seen a vehicle that has all lights on all the time. |
