Oil change / synthetic oil

I completed my first oil change on my S80. Once I was able to get the car on a set of ramps and special filter wrenchit wasa piece of cake. I refilled with Mobil 1.I'm used to changing the oil in my carsevery 3,500 miles. With the sytheticoil howmany milescan I go before a change? Also,is changing the air filter ona S80pretty straight forward oris there anything I should know about?

Thanks
JK

RE: Oil change / synthetic oil

The service schedule for the S80 is 7,500 miles. Although if you ask different people, you will get different responses on what is acceptable in terms of changing your oil. Personally, I just follow the recommended service schedule and the dealership then stamps my book saying I did what I was suppose to do.

Mobil 1 has a extended performance that they claim is good for 15,000 but I dont think I really would leave oil that long.. I guess anywhere around 5000 or so should be safe if using a high quality synthetic such as the mobil

In this particular car I would change every 3 mos or 3000 miles no matter what..Insurance is cheap...Good Luck and Happy Motoring...

RE: Oil change / synthetic oil

I use a 4 month/3,000 mile routine for my cars. My wife and I put very little mileage on our cars so by the end of the 4 months we are usually at about 1,500 miles. As you can see Imainly change the oil after4 monthsjust to ensure proper oil level and to make sure that my car is running well! I run Mobil 1 Full Synthetic in my Volvo, and I've been told you can put a lot of mileage on this oil but I'd rather just spend the money and know that my car is good. :D

If I was putting a lot of mileage on my cars (highway miles) I'd run my mileage at a 5,000/3month cycle instead as the stop and go traffic is much harder on your engine.
