PCV System Service
 

So on page 107 of my manual for the 99 s80 it says:
"The orifice nipple in the intake manifold and the filter at the end of the pcv hose in the air cleaner should be inspected at 60.000 miles or 96.000 km and thereafter, at 30.000 or 48000 km intervals)"

i cant find anything there, what am i missing here ? and what is there to inspect ? i thought there is no pcv valve like there is on other cars and its just an internal system under the intake manifold...

Hmmmmmmm. Well, for what its worth. There is no PCV piping going to my airbox whatsoever on my '99 T6. It prettymuch all makes its way to the rear of the motor. Maybe the guide is for the non-turbo? My car is US-Spec, so that might make a difference too.

Looked again at the manual and no it does not say turbo or non turbo,

Page 104 also shows this in the actually maintenance schedule chart

reason i ask is that every time my car sits for a few days without being driven, i start it up and the idle kinda feels rougfht for a few minutes, a check engine light will come on, but as it works up ( 1 - 2 minutes ) the rough feel foes away and after i drive the car and turn it on / off about 3 times the check engine light goes away, ( giving me no chance to have it scanned)

this only happens if it sits for a weekend without being driven, so i think the pcv system is a little clogged, is there a pcv valve i can replace ?

Theres no PCV valve, rather its a oil trap attached to the crankcase/block. You'll have to pull the inlet manifold and maybe the cooling fan to get to it. Not hard so much as its fiddly.

Have you pulled the codes for the service engine light?

no it goes away after i start the car like 3 times

so whats this that the manual refers to :
" PCV Nipple (orifice) / filter"

by filter they mean the box and the nipple is what vadis shows you have to blow compressed air into to clean the system ? i think i get it now...sounds stupid they put that into the manual and say check and clean every 96.000 KM, i cant even do that without taking half the engine apart.. pretty stupid
