PLEASE HELP, clacking sound from front struts
Hi, I am in need of some pro advise. I have a 2000 s80 t6 and have replaced pretty much everything along the front struts and now the clacking noise is yet louder. Its when its driven and I can see where its coming from. Looking at the top of the strut mounts in the engine bay there is a little less then half an inch gap. The top pillar has that much room to move up and down and when driving makes the loud clacking sound. What do I do about this, car sounds like a pile. Any help or suggestions would be great, Thank you.
Since you showed me the condition of the bushings on saturday i THINK i can hear s light noise coming from the front right when going over bumps, I guess its just that the control arm bushing needs replacing...
Il get that and the upper engine mount bushing filled/changed as soon as I can

all good on the other bushings, i can actually bounce the car a little and see the strut top move at least a half in up and make a little clank so im pretty sure thats the prob. but im not sure if there could b something missing there or not being that the car was purchased used and has always made this noise. Ihave it set up like this http://www.tascavolvoparts.com/?&s_k...=volvo%20parts|941502086but on the engine side there is a round nut with 4 sides pritruting out that sits upside down, then a 2.5 inch wide washer with rubber on it (sorry, the best i can explain it), then the strut nut. the washer like peice sits up high due to the round not acting like a spacer. Is this normal???
If it spins all the way around one of 2 things happened.
1. The spring seat broke already(Guessing the new one)
2. The funny looking nut under the rubberized washer is loose.

With the car sitting on the ground you can remove the upper nut. 13/16/21MM.
Then inspect the lower nut and see if it is loose.
Or see if the rubber broke for the spring seat.

Hers another, you can see the gap where theres room for up and down movement with bumps.
