Problems Starting

Ok, I am at a loss with my problem. I bought my 99 S80 T6 in november or december. At first I had no problems starting the car. Then after trying to work with the starter (which was staying on after the car was started) I was starting to have a problem starting the car. It was acting like it wasn't getting fuel but would eventually start up after about 30 seconds of cranking and having the throttle to the floor board. I started cycling the fuel pump and that seemed to work better. Then yesterday I went to start after work and the car would absolutely not start at all. I ended up draining the battery. I had to get the car towed home from work.

This morning I was going to test to see if the fuel pump was working by disconnecting the filter and turning the key on to see if fuel was going to the filter from the pump. However I could never find the filter.

I decided to go ahead and try to start the car since it was on charge all night. At first it was acting the same, like it wasn't getting any fuel. After a while it started sputtering like it wanted to start. I had to leave the gas petal pressed all the way down and keep cranking on the starter. After a minute or so of this the car finally started up and is running fine.

The only time I have had problems starting the car is when I let it sit for a while after shutting it off. If I start it again within about 30 mins it starts fine.
Any ideas or tips or fixes I can get would be great!! Thanks in advance.

That was one of my thoughts that you might want to change the fuel filter. I bought my 99 s80 in July2013 with 169,000 miles on it. One of the first things I did was change the fuel filter since I didn't know when it was done last. The filter is located just in front of the right rear wheel. You might have flooded it and maybe that's why it didn't want to start and when it was trying to start you said it was sputtering which might mean it was rich with fuel. Try and start the car with out touching the gas pedal.

When I would try to start with out using gas pedal it wouldn't start. Would spit and sputter like it was going to but would die. Ok, I was checking alldata and it said it was behind the driver's rear tire. I found it now. I am going to check it. Thanks
