Radio Cd Display Light

I recently bought a Volvo S80 t6 ('99). Two days after the purchase the display of the radio/cd H801 went dark, I can still use the radio and cd player but without the display it is difficult to find the right channels.. On the same time the dashboard display which shows the mileage also went a little darker than usual and is now also very difficult to read. I hope someone here has an answer to solve this problem since I love the car. And my apologies if my english is not that good but I am from The Netherlands..

RE: Radio Cd Display Light

Hi there erikvdongen,
I once had this problem...have u tried adjusting the contrast of the dashboard/radio lights....the contrast switch is situated on below the right side of the aircon drivers panel. This switch controls darker & lighter of all the LED's in the dash, radio, steering...Hope this helps.

RE: Radio Cd Display Light

I too have this problem, I own a 99 S80 and the dash consol can only be seen at night but the radio display can't be seen at all.... the dashboard dimmer switch doesn't work at all on my car.. I haven't checked it with a volt meter yet. But if anyone has any kind of answers please respond... cause like he said not knowing what cd ur playing or station ur on get on ur nerves.

Same problem in '01 S60

My display lights just went out, and the dimmer dial is inactive/unresponsive. The analog portion (instrument panel) still works fine, but the digital display (trip computer, odometer, clock, etc.) along with the light switch, stereo, and HVAC are all dimmed to what appears to be the lowest setting. The LEDs that show AC selection and everything still light up, but the overall illumination is down.
