ok, i have a 1999 volvo s80 T6. if you've tried the 30 second method it doesn't work, here's how to do it:
1. Put the key in the first ignition position
2. Press & hold the odometer buttom
3. Move the key to the second position position (all the lights should come on)
4. The service light should start blinking within 10 seconds.
5. Relese the buttom & ignition key.

Hope this helps out! The other method works for the S/V70.
1. Hold the odometer button
2. Turn igniton to second position
3. When the light starts blinking relese button & key.

Thanks for the info. I've been unable to reset the service light on my 2000 S80, which led to my taking the car to the dealership for "work" which didn't need to be done. But it allowed for the light to be reset, thank God! Next time it comes on I will have to give your method a try.

 

Just as a follow up (I know this is a year later!), your method works very well.

Thanks for the clear and concise directions. It literally worked on the first try! I was ready for a war and the light reset immediately.

I keep trying to no avail, Ill try tomorow again. I get the yellow triangle blinking but not the actual service light message

When the triangle flashes count 3 flashes and let go after the 3rd one and see if it resets.

Just FYI, after owning my car for about a year and never being able to reset the service light, I read a tip in one of the posts that did the trick for me. You have to release the trip reset button while the light is blinking. Apparently some models work one way and others the other.

 

Does this also work on the S80T 2001 model year? I noticed someone asked about a '00 or was it a '99 - so I was just wondering if this little trick applys to all or most years...? Thanks!

Hi guys, thanks for the info on resetting the service lights. Just asking...after resetting the service light on my S80 2001 2.0T....so how do you'SET' or key inthe service light interval for the next service @ 5000km ?

 

FYI... Just to let you know that i tried this on my '01 S80 and it works. I would add that you should release the odometer button while the "SER-VICE" light is flashing.
