S80 Airbag Service Message

I am new to the forum. I bought a 2002 S80 for my teenage daughter as I believe it to be a very safe vehicle. I am aware of the expense associated with owning an older Volvo and am trying to educate myself on the simple things to keep my costs down.

Long story but the car was at a small garage that did not specialize in imports. When I picked it up, there was a lovely message: SRS-Airbag Service Urgent. The clock was reset so I believe the mechanic removed the battery terminals, which I understand can generate this message if not done correctly (i.e., not a real airbag problem).

I have an OBDII code reader but it does not read or reset SRS codes. Is there any way to reset this error without going to the dealer? Trust me, if the code returns I will take it in for service. I appreciate any help from you veteran owners...

S80 Airbag Service Message

There were a lot of views, but nobody could help me out with this one...

I took the car to my local mechanic who reset the airbag codes and verified they did not return. Cost: $25 :)

If anyone is looking for a good import mechanic in the Pittsburgh PA area, I recommend Richlin Imports in Harrison City. I have taken a couple different cars there and always felt that they were knowledgeable and fair.
