s80 Brake Pedal Sensitivity

Hi all,

My 2000 S80 have very strong brakes. What is challenging is the brake pedal requires such a light amount of pressure to engage the brakes that you often apply much more brake stopping power than is needed.

Basically the first inch or two of brake pedal travel has little resistance but the brakes are being applied very strongly. There is little or no feel in the first two inches of brake pedal travel.

Any way to adjust this or might there be some type of spring missing from the pedal?

Thanks

... I believe everyone is thinking what i am....... control your foot. The brakes have to be STRONG since the S80 is not a little Civic. I feel that the s80 brakes are much better compared to other vehicles of similar size.

That is normal for the S80.

same effect here, brakes grab instantly, have new pads, rotors, fluid, brake booster, so this is as original as they get, so yeah im also convinced its the way they were designed, it does take getting used to, you will say thanks when you are traveling around 120 KM/H on the highway.

Remember the s80 weighs 3618 lbs, and has lots of power to get going, so it has to match that with enough stopping power to control all this weight. this is not a flimsy cheap sedan, this is a volvo
