s80 Buyers guide
 

I am considering a S80 to replace my Lex IS300 (hate the car) which replaced my wrecked 01 A6 (loved the car but upkeep was expensive). I have searched for an S80 Buyers guide (what to look for in a used s80) but I can not find one. Can anyone direct me to one or if it does not exist give me some things to look for.

I will be considering a 00-03ish S80 looking to spend between 8K and 14K. Thanks!

I would lean more towards the 03 range as there were problems with the earlier S80's that had to be worked out. I'm not aware of any particular buyers guide but www.nada.comor www.kbb.commight have some information that would be helpful.

thanks...will keep the year info in mind...what I'm after is a list of things to look for (timing belt changed at XXmis or look for odd sounds or oil leaks at a particular location). Are there particular components that should have been fixed or replaced?

I would have the timing belt changed around 70K. Normal tune up stuff, if not already done. There may be some software upgrades that the dealer would do.

Dont buy an S80 if you are expecting a responsive throttle. There is no variation in power between like 25% & 75% of the peddle throw. So it ether is taking of slow, or being kicked down in passing gear and acceling fast. My guess is that all the new electronic TB models are like this. I can mash down on the peddle rapidly over and over again, and the car will stay at the same mph as long as I dont break that 75% down mark.
