You can get a program called VADIS. Look for the 2005 edition.
Check on ebay for the DVD, or you can download it through a torrent site.

I know that VADIS can read and clear codes, but I am not sure what scanner it works with.
Most likely it will only work with a scanner bought through Volvo.

i just installed vadis 2005Aand im working with it now, you can use it with a volvo scanner i have seen that scanner at a buddy's shop, he said its $5000 just for the scanner

the software is vast, but takes time to learn, i still have not found proper instructions on anything, just diagrams, its a worthy free download to play around with

yeas i now figured it out, this program is very very thorough with lots of diagrams...some of the removal and replacement instructions are kinda basic, but i guess they expect the tech to know how to remove these things already and dont provide a step by step instruction... or maybe there is an instruction in another or appropriate section of the guide

For the fuel filter they tell you to drain the fuel system with a machine, but i dont have that machine so i think i will just try to undo the hoses and spill some gas on myself...

any torrent site, you must have a torrent download manager program like uTorrent, you must have an application that can burn an iso image to dvd (anything nero or whatever you like to use), its an iso so be prepared to burn to dvd after, follow instructions that are on the dvd BEFORE running the program, it works on my Vista ultimate 64 bit so it will work on anything

Can you use any generic OBDII scanner to get the codes from an S80 and cross-reference it with VADIS?

Not all generic scanners will read the codes but some will. There is also a cross refrence guide in vadis to cross it over.

Does anyone have any suggestions of ones that are known to work? I'd hate to order one and have problems with it. I'd rather only have to order the scanner once.

I also bought that dvd for my s80 and its amazing! I didn't buy a scanner cause of the cost but the diagrams are a time saver by themselves. I bought mine off of ebay for $25 .

Ok so you downloaded the Vida program but let me ask this do nt you need a genuine volvo cable and interface box to make this software worth anything ? Or can you use a obd/usb cable if you already have one ?

Default I didnt

I didnt pay for it i was simply asking what good other than looking up repair info is the Vadis software ? Has anyone had an luck getting there Vadis software to communicate with there car yet ? I have an ODBCOM cable interface that lets me hook up my laptop and its OBD software i have to my car. Would or could this same cable let me use the Vadis software with my car as well ? It seems to me you may need the VCT2000 interface or NiCe interface to actualy take full advantage of the Vadis software.

As of right now I have never been able to get anything but the VCT2000 to work with the Vadis. But I recently aquired an Elmscan interface over the next few months I am going to try to get it to work with the Vadis. Not sure if I will be able to but I am going to try. Since I am going back to work the progress will be slow though.
