S80 Steering Problems
Hi everyone. I'm having a problem with the steering in my 2001 S80. A few months ago the car started making loud bad noises when turning and was very difficult to turn. When I got home I checked the fluid and it was quite low, so I filled it to the recommended level. After that the noises seemed to go away and all was well. Today, the noise seemed to have come back and steering became difficult again. Once again the fuild was low, but not as bad as the first time around. I filled it to the line again, and it seemed to get better, but not entirely. I don't seem to have any issue turning to the left, but when I turn to the right, at certain wheel postions I'll hear sort of a chatter and can feel it in the steering wheel as well. Also, if I try to quickly turn the wheel to the right, the steering wheel will "lock" for a second and then turn to the right. Any ideas? Is the power steering rack shot? :(

RE: S80 Steering Problems
Maybe there is still air in the system.
Also look really good inside the bottle. By where the hose attaches to the outside of the bottle. When you look inside do you see a black plastic piece or just a copper little pipe? |
RE: S80 Steering Problems
Was losing fluid in mine tightned the clamp around where the hose hooks onto the bottle and the leak stopped worth a try
