:) hi everbody , new member got a s80 had it for five years now , great tool love it to bits . until now ..... dash board guages are all totally dead, about a year ago i changed the power steering res, then the dash guages decided to flicker on & off , thought i had disturbed the ecu box, then after a 100 or so miles they all came back on , no warning ABS lights came on or anything , so its been o.k since then, the other day went out to start it , "no dash at all" checked all conections , nothing , went to have it plugged in at the local volvo w/shop , he couldnt get any readout from it at all, he reckons the ecu may need to be updated with some new soft wear , and that needs to be done at a main dealer , called the main dealer he says it sounds like a dim problem , proberly have to replace the clocks at a price of £700, thats after i pay £65 to plug it in...... no guaranties... then he says the 1999 model is too old to have the software up graded .... ? any ideas would be appreiciated regards cole.

Welcome I am moving this to the proper forum.

The 1999 is not to old for software upgrades.
Not sure if your car needs one or not only they can tell you.
