Default S80 tire/wheel question

Can anyone tell me if I can install a set of newer Volvo s40 rims/tires measuring 17" x 7" and 205/50/17 on my 2002 S80 without any issues? I currently have the Volvo Arrakis Rims measuring 17" x 7" with a 5 x 108m bolt pattern and 225/50/17 tires on my vehicle. Will the smaller width of the tires create an issue?

I can't give you a definite answer but I have to ask why would you want to switch to a smaller tyre?

for starters, your speedo will be 3% off http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Additionally, assuming its the same sized wheel, then why use slimmer tyres?

Thank you for the reply and insight. I found a set of 17" x 7" wheels with 205/50/17 tires for a great price on craigslist. I will pursue just purchasing the wheels without the tires.

well fuel economy and winter traction both benefit from a thinner tire, but that would look tacky on an s80

the fuel economy gain is too insigificant to justify having less grip + traction from smaller tyres..
Also, less rubber = worse braking traction
