Shudder under Acceleration - bad CV Joints?
Hello All,
I have a 1999 Volvo S-80 N/A 2.9 2wd that has begun to shudder & vibrate strongly when under acceleration - but it immediately ceases when I let off the throttle. So I'm guessing my CV joint(s) have gone bad - thus the Shudder when power is applied but ceasing when gas pedal is lifted. It also used to vibrate strongly if going over bumps - especially when the suspension was compressed from moving up and down over expansion joints or uneven highway. Is they typical for CV - drive shaft failure? I am looking at replacements on RockAuto and it asks if I have Viscous Couplings or not. If I understand right, the Viscous Coupling is for AWD cars and not the 2wd cars. (A) Does the Strong Vibration on Acceleration seem like a bad Drive shaft / CV Joints? (B) I assume I should get replacements without Viscous Coupling . Any assistance and advice on this is GREATLY appreciated! |
