squeaking noise
I just got my timing belt and accessory belt replaced.
Before I got them replaced, my car was making a squeaking noise from the left side of the engine bay and I thought it was the accessory belt. However, the noise is still there for some reason and its driving me crazy!!!!!!! What could be causing the noise?? |
RE: squeaking noise
When you say left side is that when you are looking under the hood?
Drivers side or passenger side? |
RE: squeaking noise
it was the passenger side
the noise becomes more frequent as i rev |
RE: squeaking noise
It could be a bad bearing in the Alternator or A/C compressor.
Best way to find out is to remove the accessory belt and spin the pulleys and listen for the noise. |
RE: squeaking noise
I found the source of a squeaking noise that I had for a LONG time: The glove compartment handle.

RE: squeaking noise
ORIGINAL: tech Best way to find out is to remove the accessory belt and spin the pulleys and listen for the noise. This works good for pin-pointing noises.....Take a wooden handle from something..place one end on car part/power steering pump/alt/valve cover......the other end on your ear.....good way to pin-point things....just be careful of moving parts. |
RE: squeaking noise
i agree with tech.. remove the belts and go ahead and start your car. if the squeak goes away then you know it has to be a belt or something driven by the belt. then check for play in the bearings of different components if the noise does go away. or a bad bearing noise, you may not have play in it just yet.
