Stuck in neutral
 

I have a 2007 S80 and I went to leave today and when I started the car and was shifting from park to drive my gear shifter became stuck in neutral any help on what this may be would be much appreciated

An electrical failure usually results in not being able to move teh shifter from 'park' and the override gets you unstuck until you can fix the interlock.

I have not had your exact problem, but it sounds like the smart thing to do is to do an under-car inspection, as well as to remove, or have a mechanic remove, the covers over the shift mechanism to see if something has come undone or gotten lodged in the mechanism. Do the under-car first.

Does the shifter make a little click when you press the brake pedal? This would show you that the car recognizes the brake pedal is being pressed and the car is safe to shift. Stuck in neutral is quite weird anyways, you should be able to shift from neutral to drive without pressing the brake.
